FIELD: rolling stock.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for predicting the level of external noise of rolling stock. In the method, a database is formed on the measured values of the maximum external noise level of operating rolling stock units; at a distance of no more than 1 m from the level of the top of the rail head, the maximum external noise level of operating rolling stock units is measured when passing in front of the tester on an experimental curved section of a small radius track. Based on the results obtained, a database is formed that includes the values of travel speeds and the values of friction coefficients on the surfaces of the rail heads in contact with the wheels of the bogies of the operating rolling stock units. Through modelling, the moment of resistance to turning of the trolley is determined, taking into account only the influence of creep forces in the areas of contact of the wheels with the rails, after which, under different modes of movement and load of the operating rolling stock units, graphs are drawn depending on the maximum level of external noise of the operating units of the rolling stock on the moment of resistance to turning of the trolley in a given curve, the values of the moment of resistance to rotation of the bogie of the designed rolling stock unit are plotted on the indicated graphs, the maximum level of external noise of the designed rolling stock unit is determined and, if necessary, changes are made to the design of the bogie of the rolling stock being designed at the stage of its design.
EFFECT: ability to predict the maximum level of external noise of the designed rolling stock.
