FIELD: optical fibre systems.

SUBSTANCE: method for removing part of the optical radiation power through the side surface of a curved optical fibre (OF) that can be used to output part of the optical signal from the optical fibre in fibre-optic communication lines. The method consists in placing the OF on the base of a platform with recesses for the OF, which is pressed by a special cylindrical roller made of an elastic, dense material with a given radius and a guide groove. The OF is fixed at the entrance and exit of the device by plates, which ensure stability of the OF located inside the structure. Under the pressure of the cylindrical roller, the OF is bent around it to a given radius for exit of optical radiation through the side surface of the OF and is pressed by adjusting microscrews through the platform to the focusing lenses, which are located at a certain distance and at certain angles on both sides of the centre of deflection of the OF. It is possible to use replaceable cylindrical rollers of different diameters to provide different bending radii of the OF. Identical lenses located on both sides of the centre of the OF deflection are located at focal lengths from the sensitive areas of identical photodetectors, which convert the optical signal into an electrical one, after which further processing of the received signals occurs, and the direction of transmission is determined by the difference in optical power, and by their ratio - signal/noise ratio.

EFFECT: optimization of the output of the minimum level of optical radiation power sufficient to register an information signal; reducing material costs, and standardizing the method for various types of optical fibres.
