METHOD OF MAKING DEVICE FOR ELIMINATING REVERSED RAY IN FIBER-OPTIC GYROSCOPE Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2249838 C2

FIELD: fiber optics.

SUBSTANCE: device can be used for producing fiber-optic gyros and fiber-optic transducers. W-shaped profile of refractivity distribution is formed in cross-section of light guide. Then biconic constriction is formed at the section of light guide to have taper angle αc which exceed critical angle αca at some parts of light guide to form "glass-air"-type biconic constriction in the middle part of waveguide. Biconic constriction is housed inside quartz capillary. The rest part of capillary is filled with immersion composition having refractivity of n>ne, where ne is refractivity of external protective enclosure of light guide. After that the inner space of capillary is subject to sealing. Section of single-mode fiber is welded to section of multi-mode light guide the other end of which light guide is welded with section of quartz filament. The filament is made of 100% quartz glass covered with protective-strengthening coating having refractivity higher than refractivity of the quartz glass itself.

EFFECT: prolonged service life.
