SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment and is intended for determining, with a high degree of accuracy, the level of liquid media with different refraction indices, including that in non-stationary objects. A liquid level sensor including an emission source, an emission receiver, optically coupled with fibre lightguides, the opposite ends whereof are perpendicular to the optical axes thereof and are installed in a frame with a gap, wherein the end of at least one of the fibre lightguides is optically coupled with a positive microlens. The microlens has a spherical front surface or an aspherical front surface. The microlens has a hydrophobic or oleophobic coating, transparent for the used wavelength.
EFFECT: creation of a fireproof and noise-proof sensor for measuring the level and type of liquid, since the invention provides a possibility of avoiding false triggering of the sensor in a fuel tank capable of causing an accident due to the lack of fuel.
