SUBSTANCE: invention is related to devices for pointing a laser beam at an object. The method of aiming a laser beam at an object includes separate rotation by the drives of two identical optical wedges installed sequentially along the beam, according to measurements of the coordinates of the object by a photodetector, its field of view is shifted relative to the optical axis of the transmitting-receiving path by an angle equal to half the field of view, the origin of coordinates of the photodetector is shifted to the corner of the field of view and coordinated with the axis of rotation of the wedges, combined with the optical axis of the tract. The centre of the beam of the guided laser in the position of the optical wedges of zero beam deflection is combined with the geometric centre of the displaced field of view of the photodetector, the drives of the wedges adjust for pointing errors, while the coordinate information about the errors guidance for the drives is formed from the photodetector in polar coordinates relative to the displaced origin of coordinates by measuring the coordinates of the object relative to the geometric centre of the photodetector in Cartesian coordinates, these coordinates are summed with the angular displacement of the geometric centre, the polar coordinates of the object are calculated, the rotation angle of each wedge for beam guidance is found, and the signals are sent to wedge drives.
