FIELD: processing of materials by cutting.
SUBSTANCE: method for mechanical processing of workpieces made of plastics, polymer composite materials and rubber is disclosed, in which discrete relative motion of shaping is imparted to the workpiece and/or cutting tool, and at the same time the cutting tool and/or the surface of the workpiece are cooled. Simultaneously with the shaping movement, chips formed during the shaping process are removed by a directed stream of air supplied using a flexible supply at an angle as close as possible to the cutting zone. In this case, the direction of the jet is chosen in such a way that it does not interfere with the movement of the cutter and robotic grips of the robot feeder and ensures blowing of chips outside the movement zone of the cutting tool and robotic grips of the robot feeder. The flow rate of the air jet is adjusted depending on the material and size of the workpiece, the jet speed is maintained within 5-10 m/sec for effective removal of chips from the cutting zone, and the air jet temperature ranges from -20°C to +20°C.
EFFECT: improvement of quality of workpiece processing.
