SUBSTANCE: method for producing a nickel catalyst for the liquid-phase selective hydrogenation of aromatic unsaturated hydrocarbons and nitro compounds with a nickel phyllosilicate structure of the formula Ni₃(Si₄O₁₀)(OH)₂*4H₂O, which consists in the fact that silicon oxide with a specific surface area of 250 m²/g is treated with a 1 molar aqueous solution of nickel nitrate in the presence of urea at a temperature of 95°C and a pressure of 9 bar under the influence of microwave radiation with a power of 75 W and a frequency of 2.45 Hz for 3-5 hours.

EFFECT: development of a method for preparing a catalyst under the influence of microwave radiation, ensuring the formation of a nickel phyllosilicate structure of the formula Ni₃(Si₄O10)(OH)2*4H₂O in one stage, characterized by high conversion values (82% and above) and selectivity (86% and above) in the processes of liquid-phase hydrogenation of aromatic unsaturated hydrocarbons and nitro compounds with the formation of the corresponding olefins and amines.
