FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology for producing hydrogen and carbon nanomaterials by pyrolysis of hydrocarbon gases (for example, methane, natural gas or associated petroleum gas), and can be used in various fields of application: hydrogen energy, nanotechnology, chemical industry, etc. The method for producing hydrogen and carbon nanomaterial includes pyrolysis of hydrocarbon gases in the presence of a catalyst containing at least one metal of groups 9, 10, 11 of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, at temperatures of 550-750°C and pressures from 1 to 10 atm. A catalyst for the production of hydrogen and carbon nanomaterial is obtained by preparing a solution from crystalline hydrates of at least one metal nitrate, heating the resulting solution to a temperature of 460°C at heating rate of 1-20° C/min, evaporation of the solution to a solid state, calcination, introduction of a solution of tetraethoxysilane diluted with propanol and drying.
EFFECT: approach proposed in the invention makes it possible to increase the yield of hydrogen and carbon nanomaterial.
