SUBSTANCE: equipment for longitudinal sawing of timber used in small lumber mills. The cutting unit of a lumber mill contains a band unextended saw installed in guides located above and below the material being cut, and has a saw drive from a crank mechanism with a slider connected to a grip fixed in the lower part of the saw. At the rear end surfaces of the guides, support slats are installed, with which the rear edge of the saw is in contact. Moreover, the working surfaces of the slats are made of wear-resistant antifriction material. Elastic elements are installed between the support slats and the base of the machine - compression springs, which allow the support slats to be pressed away from the trim surfaces of the guides under the action of cutting forces.

EFFECT: reliability of the cutting unit and the quality of the resulting lumber are increased.
