An aerosol generating device comprises a cavity for housing an aerosol generating article containing an aerosol-forming substrate, wherein the aerosol-forming substrate is a solid aerosol-forming substrate, and a flexible membrane located at the upstream end of the cavity, containing an opening in fluid communication with the cavity. A flexible membrane is disposed at an upstream end of the device, wherein the opening is configured to admit air to the device, wherein at least two openings containing intersecting slits are formed in the flexible membrane, wherein at least two intersecting slits form a central portion.

EFFECT: aerosol generating device can be easily cleaned by pushing the cleaning tool through the opening of the flexible membrane.
