Also the following is provided: a method of treating erosive osteoarthritis of the hands, comprising the step of administering to a patient in need of such treatment an effective amount of montelukast or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

EFFECT: it was shown that patients suffering from erosive osteoarthritis of the hands treated with montelukast demonstrated improvement in clinical symptoms and radiological parameters, and reduced pain and improved functionality of the hands was also reported.
