SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the treatment or prevention of pain in the knee joint or the hip joint in patients suffering from osteoarthritis, which, in history, do not have adequate anesthesia or have intolerance to standard analgesic treatment. The patient is administered with a pharmaceutical composition containing 1 mg of an antibody against the nerve growth factor (hereinafter – NGF), containing a pair of amino acid sequences of a heavy chain variable region (HCVR)/light chain variable region (LCVR) of SEQ ID NOs: 2/10. The patient has Kellgren-Lawrence [K-L] assessment of ≥2 by 0-4 scale before the treatment. Administration is performed at intervals, every four or eight weeks. The composition reduces pain or improves a physical function in the patient, while the frequency of occurrence of one or more undesired phenomena in the patient is reduced compared to patients receiving higher doses of the antibody to NGF or its antigen-binding fragment.

EFFECT: inventions allow for avoidance of the risk of development of arthropathy related to the treatment with an antibody against NGF.
