FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: monitoring fire alarm systems used when testing the performance of thermal fire detectors in an explosion-proof design using devices for testing thermal fire detectors in a general purpose industrial version. The working space of the thermal fire detector testing device in a general purpose industrial version is divided into two zones, the testing device is moved so that the remote sensitive element of the explosion-proof thermal fire detector is located in the first zone, then the testing device forms a flow of heated air that enters the input of the first zone, and, heating the remote sensitive element, passes from the first zone to the second zone and exits it, leaving the working space of the testing device. In this case, a flow of heated air is supplied to the first zone until the activation temperature of the thermal fire detector in an explosion-proof design is established in it.

EFFECT: ensuring heating of a remote sensitive element to the temperature of operation of a thermal fire detector in an explosion-proof design by a device for testing a thermal fire detector in a general purpose industrial version, while simultaneously reducing heat losses for heating the space surrounding the detector testing device.
