FIELD: communication technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a communication element connected to a string of one or more pipes, as well as to a method for transmitting data along a string of one or more pipes in construction equipment or in a drilling rig for drilling a well along a drilling trajectory from the original points to the end point. A communication element connected to a column of one or more pipes, configured to excite an electromagnetic wave in the column when an information signal is applied to the communication element, contains a feeder part located at the first end of the communication element for receiving the information signal. The communication element includes a first electrically conductive portion extending from the feeder portion to a second end of the communication element attached to the column to create an electrically conductive connection between the first electrically conductive portion and the column. The communication element also includes a second electrically conductive portion extending from the feeder portion to the second end of the coupling element. The first and second electrically conductive parts are located at a distance from each other. The first electrically conductive portion surrounds the second electrically conductive portion to form a waveguide between the first and second electrically conductive portions. The distance between the first and second electrically conductive portions increases from the first end to the second end, causing the waveguide to expand in the direction from the first end to the second end.
EFFECT: ensuring data transmission over a considerable distance with increased speed.
