SUBSTANCE: invention relates to centrifugal compressors, compressor systems and methods of operation of centrifugal compressors. The centrifugal compressor (100) has a housing (110) with two or more compressor inlets (120) for compressing the process gas; an impeller (130) is placed inside the housing (110) so as to receive an incoming flow of process gas from two compressor inlets (120) through a storage chamber (115) and increase the gas pressure as the process gas passes into the impeller (130); by virtue of two or more inlet ports (120), uniformity of flow at the inlet ports (120) can be achieved by short manifold pipes (121) in fluid communication in front of the inlet ports (120).

EFFECT: piping design of the compressor system including such a compressor is simplified since it is subject to fewer restrictions.
