FIELD: printed lithium composition.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a substrate coated with a printable lithium composition suitable for use in a variety of energy storage devices, including batteries and capacitors. The printable lithium composition includes lithium metal powder; a polymer binder, wherein the polymer binder is compatible with the lithium powder; and a rheology modifier compatible with the lithium powder and polymer binder, wherein the rheology modifier is dispersed in the composition and provides a three-dimensional support structure. The substrate may be built into the battery/accumulator. In one embodiment, the battery comprises a cathode, an electrolyte, and an anode, wherein the cathode, electrolyte, separator, anode, or combination thereof may comprise a substrate coated with a printable lithium composition.
