FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical current sources, in particular, to a metal foil electrode made of lithium foil. Disclosed metal foil electrode comprises: i) reinforcement layer, formed from porous non-conducting substrate, and ii) first and second layers of metal foil, containing lithium and/or sodium, wherein reinforcement layer is located between first and second layers of metal foil and is preferably pressure bonded therewith with formation of a composite structure, having thickness of 100 microns or less.
EFFECT: reduced thickness of metal foil electrode and increased specific energy of electrochemical cell.
