FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in open-pit mining to form benches and sides of a quarry in the final contour in conditions of rocky and semi-rocky rocks. A method for strengthening a berm of a ledge includes excavating rocks from a weakened zone in the upper part of the ledge, strengthening the ledge by filling the mined-out space with hardening material, whereas excavating a layer of rocks weakened by an explosion and leveling the berm is carried out by milling, then the crushed rocks are divided by size into small and large fractions, small fraction mixed with a binder and sealed to obtain a hardening solution, the large fraction together with the hardening solution is placed on the prepared ledge area to form a layer of protective covering for the berm.
EFFECT: reducing the volume of stripping work due to the formation of a steeper and more stable angle of the quarry side, ensuring the safety of mining operations.
