FIELD: glass industry.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance with the claimed glass production method, raw materials in a solid state are fed into a glass furnace, said raw materials containing granular glassy sodium silicate and having a moisture content of less than 1% by weight and powdered calcium oxide. At least 17% by weight of calcium is supplied as powdered calcium oxide for soda-lime glass, and at least 80% by weight of calcium is supplied as powdered calcium oxide for fluorosilicate glass. Preferably, said granular glassy sodium silicate provides from 2 to 50% sodium in the glass, preferably from 4 to 15% for soda-lime glass, the remainder being supplied as sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, recycled glass and feldspar. The remainder of the calcium oxide is supplied in the form of calcium carbonate, recycled glass, dolomite and feldspar. An installation for melting glass contains a furnace with a reservoir for molten glass and a raw material supply system equipped with a supply element for granulated glassy sodium silicate.

EFFECT: method provides a reduction in CO₂ emissions, a reduction in the amount of dust in the flue gases, a reduction in energy consumption and an increase in furnace productivity, and also reduced wear on the furnace walls, faster melting and cleaning of glass.
