FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns a method for determining the content of tetracycline in the air. The method involves absorption of an antibacterial drug into distilled water by passing contaminated air contained in the air through the water, followed by assessment of the toxic effect of the resulting aqueous solution on a culture of the unicellular algae Chlorella vulgaris by recording the optical density of the test culture incubated on Tamiya medium containing the test sample. The concentration of tetracycline is determined by calculating the optical density coefficient using the formula K=OPo/OPk, where OPo is the optical density of the test culture after exposure to the test sample, and OPk is the optical density of the test culture not exposed to the test sample. At K<0.9, the concentration of tetracycline in the air is stated to be in excess of the established value of the maximum permissible concentration, at K≥0.9 the content of tetracycline in the air is stated to be within the limits of the maximum permissible concentration.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the sensitivity of the method for determining the content of tetracycline.
