FIELD: alkaline electrochemical generators; batteries.
SUBSTANCE: secondary electrochemical generator with a zinc electrode contains: a) an electrolyte, which is an alkaline aqueous solution with a molarity of 4 M to 15 M of hydroxyl anions, including soluble silicates, the concentration of which is expressed as silicon dioxide (SiO2) from 0.15 g/l up to 80 g/l, and b) a zinc electrode containing an electrically conductive ceramic at least partially consisting of hafnium nitride and/or carbide and/or carbide and/or nitride and/or magnesium silicide and/or carbide and/or nitride of niobium, and or carbide and/or nitride and/or silicide of titanium, and/or vanadium nitride and/or carbides and/or double nitrides of any two metals selected from hafnium, magnesium, niobium, titanium and vanadium.
EFFECT: reduction in passivation of zinc electrodes and drainage of the generator and, consequently, an increase in service life during cyclic operation of the system.
