FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a chromium-free catalyst for use in fluidized bed reactors. In particular, to a chromium-free catalyst for use in high temperature water gas shift reactions. The following is described: a chromium-free catalyst for use in a water gas shift reaction in a fluidized bed reactor comprising the following:50-60 wt.% 5–15 wt.% of Fe2O3, 20–25 wt.% of CuO, 10–15 wt.% of Al2O3, 1–6 wt.% of ZnO, and K2CO3, where the catalyst has a Davison index (DI) of less than or equal to 15. Also the following is described: a method of converting carbon monoxide (CO) to carbon dioxide (CO2) comprising introducing H2O and CO in a molar ratio of 1:1 to 3:1 into a fluidized bed reactor at operating temperature, the reactor containing the catalyst described above, where the catalyst has a Davison index less than or equal to 7, and where the CO conversion at operating temperatures between 375°C and 450°C is at least 60%.
EFFECT: provision of high abrasion resistance with higher water gas conversion activity.
