FIELD: electric power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used on overhead power lines and fibre-optic communication lines as a universal device for damping and detuning vibrations of wires as a result of wind influence, such as vibration and galloping. To ensure the specified technical result, the wind vibration damper contains spiral strands located along the wire, each made of at least one core, and consisting along the length of the outer, middle and central parts. The outer and middle parts of the spiral strands are wound onto the wire on opposite sides of the central part of each spiral strand. The central parts of all spiral strands are made in the form of U-shaped loops and are equipped with weights. The weights are placed on the middle sections of the central parts of the spiral strands, and the middle and central parts of the spiral strands are covered with a continuous coaxial layer of an elastic-viscous polymer.
EFFECT: reducing the vibration amplitude of overhead power line wires.
