SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to the field of catalysis. A catalyst for the alkylation of benzene with propylene into isopropylbenzene is described, including zeolite Hβ and binder γ-Al2O3, which additionally contains calcium oxide, as zeolite Hβб that is zeolite Hβ with a molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3 =25, and binder γ-Al2O3 is a mixture of aluminum hydroxide, brand Pural SB, and aluminum hydroxide, brand Disperal HP 14, taken in a mass ratio of 1:1, with the following ratio of components in the catalyst, wt. %: calcium oxide 0.12-0.42, zeolite Hβ with a molar ratio of SiO2/Al2O3=25 49.79-49.94 , binder γ- Al2O3 the rest. A method for preparing the above-mentioned catalyst is described, characterized in that the binder is prepared by mixing aluminum hydroxide of the Pural SB brand and aluminum hydroxide of the Disperal HP 14 brand in a mass ratio of 1:1, powdered zeolite Hβ with a molar ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 = 25 is added to the mixture, the resulting mass is peptized with 5% solution of nitric acid with the addition of triethylene glycol, distilled water is added in portions until a paste suitable for extrusion is obtained, extruded, dried in air for 10-12 hours, dried at a temperature of 60°C, 80°C and 110°C for 2 hours at each temperature and calcined at 550°C for 5 hours, calcium oxide is applied to the obtained zeolite granules by ion exchange by adding an aqueous solution of calcium nitrate based on the molar ratio Ca2+/A1carcass = 0.55 and boiling the mixture with reflux at a temperature of 90-95°C for 10-12 hours, then the mother liquor is drained, the catalyst is washed three times with distilled water, filtered, dried at a temperature of 100°C for 2-3 hours and calcined at a temperature of 550°C for 5 hours.

EFFECT: increase in the catalytic activity of the catalyst and its strength.
