METHOD OF EMBOLIZATION OF OVARIAN ARTERIES USING TRANSRADIAL ACCESS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61M25/01 A61B6/00 A61K49/00 A61P15/00

SUBSTANCE: first, puncture and catheterization of the right radial artery is performed in a retrograde direction. Using a 0.035 guidewire, a Berenstein 5F 125 cm embolization catheter is advanced to the level of the infrarenal aorta. Next, aortoarteriography of the abdominal region is performed to determine the anatomical origin and position of the orifices of the ovarian arteries involved in the blood supply to the uterine fibroids. The next step is selective catheterization of the ovarian arteries, using an interventional guidewire of 0.014 inches and then the ovarian artery is catheterized along the guidewire using a Berenstein 5F 125 cm embolization catheter. Then the ovarian artery is embolized with microspheres of 500–700 mcm and 700–900 mcm until contrast substances stasis is achieved in the distal parts of the perifibroid blood flow of uterine fibroids. The Berenstein 5F 125 cm embolization catheter and sheath are removed from the radial artery. A pressure compression aseptic bandage is applied for 2 hours, followed by loosening.

EFFECT: method allows to reduce the risk of complications from vascular access during embolization of the ovarian arteries.
