FIELD: quantum cryptography.
SUBSTANCE: phase and amplitude-phase modulators for quantum key distribution. A device for amplitude-phase modulation of optical pulses is presented, configured to create quantum states in the phase and time bases, containing: a controlled laser, configured to generate information optical pulses suitable for creating quantum states; a control laser configured to set the phase and time bases using optical pulses of different durations, wherein the state in the phase basis is encoded by perturbing the pump current in the middle of a long pulse, and the state in the time basis is encoded by selecting the generation time of the short pulse; an optical circulator configured to transmit radiation from the control laser to the controlled laser and output of radiation of the controlled laser to the optical attenuator.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of quantum key distribution.
