FIELD: communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technology and can be used in systems for information transmission using quantum technologies, in particular, to a method and apparatus for quantum key distribution (QKD). The claimed technical result is achieved by supplementing the QKD apparatus with additional modules ensuring conversion of polarisation encoding into phase-time encoding in the transmitter and reverse conversion from phase-time encoding to polarisation encoding in the receiver.
EFFECT: increase in the speed of key distribution in quantum communication systems.
