SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the speech of patients after tongue resection. The patient's speech is assessed in 3 stages. At the first stage, tongue articulation is assessed using a disposable medical mouthpiece. At the second stage, during which the patient is offered cards with syllabic tables, the sound pronunciation of the following groups of sounds is assessed: sonors [l], [r]; hissing upper rise [sh], [zh] and whistling [s], [z]. At the third stage, the patient’s ability to implement a speech utterance is assessed. Identified violations are assessed with the following points: 0 points — no violations, 1 point — mild difficulties, 2 points — moderate difficulties, 3 points — severe difficulties, 4 points — absolute difficulties. Then the speech quality index is formed as a sum of points from 0 to 60 points: 0–2 points — excellent speech quality, 3–14 points — good speech quality, 15–29 points — satisfactory speech quality, 30–56 points — poor speech quality, 57–60 points — very poor speech quality.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to unify the assessment of the quality of speech of patients with tongue cancer in the postoperative period by using a structured step-by-step assessment method, and will also allow for further dynamic assessment of the results of changes in the speech of patients and assess the impact of other treatment methods at the postoperative stage.
