FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to dentistry. If observing a cleft palate and lip in the foetus, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed before delivery, at the gestational age of 39 weeks or more. In a computer program for working with 3D objects, objects of interest are selected — hard and soft palates, lips, cheeks and nose. DICOM series is used to approximate objects of interest by selecting each object with a different colour. Temporary obturator is simulated by programming gap of 50 mcm between the obturator and the tissues of the prosthetic bed. Obturator covers the area of the defect, and its edges pass along the transitional fold. Thickness of obturator is 0.3 mm. Virtual obturator model is converted into a physical one by 3D printing from a bioinert medical photopolymer. Obturator is post-printed and polished. Obturator is fixed in the oral cavity of the newborn baby immediately after birth.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to perform orthopaedic preoperative correction of cleft palate and lip, to temporarily compensate for defect of hard palate and lip in newborn baby immediately after birth, providing possibility of breastfeeding.
