FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical engineering and can be used to produce spherical aluminium oxide granules, which can be used as sorbents or as catalyst carriers. Method involves treating an aluminium nitrate salt with ammonia vapor. Powder of amorphous aluminium hydroxide with admixture of ammonium nitrate obtained after treatment with ammonia vapor is washed with liquid capable of dissolving ammonium nitrate till its residual content is not more than 0.5 wt.%. Then the washed powder is dried and peptized with concentrated nitric acid to form a dry gel, after which water is added.
EFFECT: obtaining a fluid mass of homogeneous composition, which increases output of suitable granules made from it, simplifies the process and reduces energy and labour costs.
