SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysis. Described is a method of preparing a hydrotreating catalyst support of a hydrocarbon feedstock containing aluminium oxide and a silicon compound or a silicon and boron compound, in which product of fast heat treatment of hydrargillite is ground to particles with average volumetric diameter of agglomerates of particles of 5–25 mcm, then hydrated, washed from sodium, is subjected to hydrothermal treatment in form of a suspension in an aqueous solution of nitric acid and a silicon source or in aqueous solution of nitric acid and a silicon source and boric acid, spray drying, powder is peptised while stirring with aqueous ammonia solution with ammonium modulus of not less than 0.075; extruding and after heat treatment obtaining a support containing, wt. %: silicon and boron in terms of oxides of non-metals SiO2 - 0.1–20 and B2O3 - 0–10, sodium - 0.005–0.03, low-temperature transition forms of aluminium oxide Al2O3 is the rest, ratio of low-temperature transition forms of aluminium oxide χ-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3 in the support in wt. % is (0–40):(100–60).
EFFECT: technical result is higher catalyst activity.
