FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for generating neutrons in nuclear interaction of pulsed flows of accelerated hydrogen nuclides with solid targets containing heavy hydrogen isotopes. Device comprises a pulsed laser, a vacuum chamber with a pumping station, with optical and two electrical inputs, with laser and neutron-forming targets, pulse transformer with primary and secondary windings, storage tank, high-voltage power supply unit, laser-controlled discharger, focusing devices and partially transparent mirror. Vacuum chamber is made completely of dielectric in the form of a hollow cylinder, one end of which is attached to the pumping out station and has the first electric input, the other end has an optical input and the second electric input. Primary winding of the transformer covers the hollow cylinder and is connected in series to the storage tank and the discharger, the secondary winding is made in the form of a single-layer solenoid and is located inside the cylinder. One end of the secondary winding is connected to the first electric input, and the second end of the secondary winding is connected to the laser target. Neutron-forming target is installed on the inner surface of the hollow cylinder, covers the laser target and is connected to the second electric input.
EFFECT: increased output of neutrons of pulse neutron generator due to considerable increase of voltage accelerating deuterons with preservation of dimensions of vacuum accelerating tube and the whole pulse neutron generator as a whole.
