FIELD: medicine; anesthesiology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine a dose of isobaric bupivacaine for spinal anesthesia in overweight patients. Initially, a dose of isobaric bupivacaine is calculated based on the patient's height. Patient’s normal body weight is then determined by Breitman’s formula. Correction value of the dose of isobaric bupivacaine is calculated by calculating the difference between the actual weight of the patient and his normal weight, and the obtained value is divided by 100. Calculated dose is reduced for the patient’s height by the divisible value.
EFFECT: method enables to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular complications associated with exceeding the dose of the administered isobaric bupivacaine in spinal anesthesia, due to an individual approach to the calculation of its dose taking into account the height and body weight of the patient.
