FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to gastroenterology, and can be used for differential diagnosis of Crohn's disease (CD) of large intestine and ulcerative colitis (UC). Video colonoscopy with multifocal pinch biopsy is performed from each section of the large intestine. Prepared biopsy material is used to make histological preparations. Prepared histological preparations are examined by light microscopy and digitized. Obtained digital images of the histological preparations are analysed using a convolutional neural network VGG16 to obtain one of the following results: "normal", "Crohn's disease" or "ulcerative colitis".
EFFECT: method enables effective diagnosis of CD and UC by analysing morphological images with an artificial neural network.
