SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling an artificial knee joint. Method of controlling artificial knee joint (1), having upper part (10) with front side (11) and rear side (12), located with possibility of rotation around knee axis (15) on upper part (10) with lower part (20) with front side (21) and rear side (22), located on lower part (20) of foot section (30), at least one sensor (25, 51, 52, 53, 54), connected to at least one sensor (25, 51, 52, 53, 54), control device (60) and actuator (40), which is connected to control device (60) and which by means of control device (60) sets available angle (KAmax) of knee between rear side (12) of upper part (10) and rear side (22) of lower part (20) in transfer phase. Depending on the data of at least one sensor (25, 51, 52, 53, 54), a conclusion is made on overcoming the difference (ΔH) the heights of foot section (30) to foot (33) or the foot section of the contralateral side of the patient in the support phase or to foot portion (30) immediately preceding the support phase when walking, and adjusting the knee angle (KAmax) available in the transfer phase. At difference (ΔH) of heights increasing opposite to direction (G) of gravity, reducing available angle (KAmax) of knee.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method which enables a user of an artificial knee joint to better cope with special situations when walking.
