SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a drive system for a switch and to a method of actuating switches, in particular load step switches, load switches, selectors, double reversing switches, reversing switches or pre-selectors. Disclosed is drive system (3) for switch (1, 30), and method of actuating at least one switch (1, 30) is disclosed. Drive shaft (16) connects drive system (3) with at least one switch (1, 30). Motor (12) is used to actuate drive shaft (16). Feedback system (4) is designed to determine the position of drive shaft (16) and generate a feedback signal based on this position. Depending on the feedback signal, control device (2) can affect the operation of engine (12), wherein control device (2) selects motion profile (22) which acts on engine (12) accordingly.
EFFECT: providing optimum switching profile (22) to maintain safe switching.
