SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a method for switching a unit for switching an electrical device and to a drive system of the unit for switching an electrical device. The method for implementing switching of the first switching means (17) or at least one second switching means (18, 19) of the electrical appliance (20) and the drive system is characterized by the following: the control unit (10) receives the switching signal; by means of the control unit (10), based on the switching signal, the first switching means (17) or at least the second switching means (18, 19) is selected for switching; at least one parameter of the first switching means (17) or at least the second switching means (18, 19) is requested by the control unit (10); based on at least one requested parameter, a blocking condition for the first switching means (17) or a blocking condition for at least the second switching means (18, 19) is checked; and switching by the selected first switching means (17) or at least the second switching means (18, 19) is performed if the corresponding blocking condition is satisfied.

EFFECT: increasing the safety and reliability of the switching means and electrical appliance.
