FIELD: insect repellent compositions.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of controlling insects, in particular, repelling insects. The insect repellent composition contains from 5.0 to 50.0% by weight of an insect repellent component containing one or more fatty acids having from 9 to 21 carbon atoms, wherein the insect repellent fatty acid includes lauric acid, at least at least one non-aqueous solvent and from 0.1 to 20.0% by weight of an additional insect repellent component capable of acting synergistically with the insect repellent fatty acid, wherein the composition contains no water or contains less than 1% by weight water. The additional insect repellent component is selected from p-menthane-3,8-diol, N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide, essential oil, ethylbutylacetylaminopropionate, icaridin, or a mixture of at least two of these components. Additionally, the composition contains a stabilizing component with an unsaturated fatty acid, preferably based on oleic acid.
EFFECT: proposed insect repellent composition is effective against blood-sucking insects, stable, does not require reapplication, moisture-resistant, and safe when applied to the skin.
