FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for measurement of length of common carotid artery. Ultrasonic examination of common carotid artery is performed. Sensor is placed above the jugular notch in parallel to the inner edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, determining the source of the common carotid artery, then the sensor is delivered upwards along the front edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the length of separate lengths of the common carotid artery from the transverse process of one cervical vertebra to the other one is determined. Length of the common carotid artery is determined as the sum of lengths of separate lengths of the common carotid artery from the transverse process of one cervical vertebra to the other.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of measuring the length of a vessel, the length of which exceeds the length of a linear sensor, due to skeletal reference points.
