SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of teeth cleaning agents and their use. Proposed toothpaste composition contains a carboxylic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof in amount of 1.5% to 3.0% of the weight of said composition, where said acid is selected from a list consisting of malonic acid, glutaric acid, tartaric acid, lactic acid and mixtures thereof; copolymer of methyl vinyl ether (MVE) with maleic anhydride or acid, wherein said copolymer is present in amount of 0.2% to 0.3% of the weight of said composition; and a source of free fluoride ions, and wherein the pH of the suspension prepared from said toothpaste composition and distilled water in a weight ratio of the composition to water of 1:3 is in range of 5.0 to 6.5. Also disclosed is the use of said toothpaste composition for protecting teeth from dental erosion for protecting teeth from caries.

EFFECT: composition of the composition provides a significant increase in the fluoride absorption by the teeth due to the use of the specific carboxylic acid(s) from the above list; wherein the inclusion of a copolymer of methyl vinyl ether with maleic anhydride or acid provides a significant increase in the reduction of enamel solubility without adversely affecting fluoride absorption.
