FIELD: medicine, pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to an erosion-preventive oral care composition and a method for using it. The oral care composition providing the dental enamel protection against acid-induced erosion contains (a) an orally acceptable carrier; (b) a copolymer of methylvinylether and maleic anhydride; (c) a metal salt which becomes more soluble at acid pH; and (d) an abrasive substance. The metal salt which becomes more soluble at acid pH is specified in calcium carbonate; the abrasive substance represents a silicone dioxide abrasive in an amount of 10-25% of the composition weight. A method for reducing the acid-induced erosion of dental enamel involves delivering the above composition into the patient's oral cavity, wherein the delivered composition applies a layer of the copolymer of methylvinylether and maleic anhydride and the metal salt on the dental enamel; dissolving the metal salt protects the dental enamel against erosion.
EFFECT: using the group of inventions provides dental protection against erosion with maintaining the adequate cleaning effectiveness.
