SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of oral care products and their manufacture. Dentifrice according to the invention comprises zinc phosphate and arginine in a free or orally acceptable salt form in an amount of from 0.5 to 10 % by weight, where zinc phosphate is added to the dentifrice as a preformed salt in an amount of 0.5 to 4 % by weight, where the dentifrice further comprises an effective amount of one or more phosphate salts, selected from sodium phosphate dibasic, potassium phosphate dibasic, dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, calcium pyrophosphate, sodium tripolyphosphate and mixtures of any two or more thereof. It is also disclosed is the use zinc phosphate and arginine in a free or orally acceptable salt form in the manufacture of a dentifrice, where zinc phosphate is added to the dentifrice as a preformed salt in an amount of 0.5 to 4 % by weight, and where the arginine is present in an amount of 0.5 to 10 % by weight and where the dentifrice further comprises an effective amount of one or more phosphate salts selected from sodium dibasic phosphate, potassium phosphate dibasic, dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, calcium pyrophosphate, sodium tripolyphosphate and mixtures of any two or more thereof.

EFFECT: use of said composition provides improved zinc deposition and enamel protection relative to the acidic effect as compared to formulations containing arginine and zinc citrate.
