FIELD: optoelectronics.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for controlling operation of thermal imaging devices in the mode of searching, capturing and tracking a target approaching or receding at a certain speed along a given trajectory. Moving target simulator comprises an infrared collimator, consisting of a lens, a MIR unit, placed in the focal plane of the collimator in front of a background emitter equipped with an actuating element, a MIR unit temperature meter, measuring the temperature difference between the background radiator and the MIR unit, the first control unit, the first output of which is connected to the computing unit. MIR unit is configured to form a test object with an adjustable size and consists of two MIR, each of which has a drive and a displacement sensor, and the computing unit is connected to a temperature meter of the MIR unit, a meter of the temperature difference between the background emitter and the MIR unit, an actuating element of the background emitter, drives and displacement sensors of each MIR. In the moving target simulator, a rotary-inclined device is additionally introduced, which is made with possibility of fixing the controlled thermal imaging device in it, it is equipped with angular displacement drives and position transducers connected via controller to second control unit connected via timing device to second output of first control unit.

EFFECT: simulating three-dimensional movement of a target at a given speed due to provision of possibility of automatic simultaneous smooth change with required rates of values of levels of contrast radiation, size of image of test object of infrared collimator and the position of the image of the test object of the infrared collimator on the photodetector array of the monitored thermal imaging device.
