SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to select a method of surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis in children. Spiral computed tomography of pancreas is performed, average value of triple measurements of X-ray density of pancreas parenchyma for areas of head, body and tail is determined. If the X-ray density in the head, body and tail of pancreas is 30–40 HU, an endoscopic treatment is prescribed. If the X-ray density of the pancreas head is 50–60 HU and the X-ray density of the pancreas body and tail is 30–40 HU, a duodenum-preserving pancreatic head resection with distal pancreaticojejunoanastomosis is prescribed. If the X-ray parenchyma density in the head, body and tail of the pancreas is more than 50 HU, a longitudinal pancreaticojejunostomy is prescribed.

EFFECT: method enables selecting the optimal method for decompression of pancreatic ducts in chronic pancreatitis in children by determining the X-ray density of the pancreas parenchyma.
