FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to heat treatment of articles from steels with carbon content of 0.4–1.5%, and can be used in machine building, for example, for anchors for support in the mining industry, wheels and axles of railway rolling stock, etc., where high hardness and strength values are required in the central part of the product with the product having a damping or compensating peripheral section. Method involves annealing, quenching, wherein the product is annealed at temperature of 1,000–1,100 °C at least 3 hours, the article is cooled in air to ambient temperature, then heated for quenching in furnace to 750–860 °C, held for at least 10 minutes, placed in a hardening medium for 2–3 minutes.
EFFECT: making the peripheral part of the article plastic, and the central part of the article – strong and solid.
