FIELD: electrical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrical industry and can be used in the manufacture of chemical current sources. Essence of the method of producing a gel electrolyte based on polyvinyl alcohol consists in a two-step process for preparing a stable electrolyte. During its manufacture there is no significant destruction of its constituent components; step-by-step quality control of the manufactured product is carried out. Method involves preparation of separate precursors — PVA of 28% by weight of aqueous solution and sulfuric acid of 90% of aqueous solution and mixing said solutions at ratio of 1:1 by adding 90% sulfuric acid solution in portions to 28% PVA solution in an ice bath for heat removal.

EFFECT: possibility of creating a stable gel electrolyte for chemical current sources based on sulfuric acid and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a binder for active masses of electrodes, as well as precursors for making membranes of various ionogenic nature, used as separators in the same chemical current sources.
