FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions of crude mixtures for making ceramic heat-insulating materials and can be used to produce heat-insulating ceramics in the construction of residential, civil and industrial buildings. Argillite-based crude mixture for making ceramic heat-insulating building materials, as a correcting additive it additionally contains finely dispersed natural amorphous silica raw material of the following composition, wt.%: SiO2 87.00; Al2O3 5.00; TiO3 0.3; Fe2O3 2.25; P2O5 0.07; FeO less than 0.25; CaO 0.72; MgO 0.50; MnO 0.02; K2O 1.03; Na2O 0.58; SO3 less than 0.10; other secondary impurities 2.26, and the alkaline additive is a colloidal sodium polysilicate with a silicate modulus of 6.5, obtained by introducing 16% silicon dioxide hydrosol into 20% aqueous solution of sodium silicate in ratio of 1:1.6, stirring at 100 °C for 3 hours, followed by holding for 0.5 hours. Crude mixture contains components in the following ratio, wt.%: argillites 69.0–74.8; natural amorphous silica raw material 11.6–7.55; scrap glass 9.5–10.5; construction gypsum 4.92–5.1; aluminium powder 0.58–0.6; colloidal sodium polysilicates 3.4–2.5.

EFFECT: increasing strength of porous articles to 5.85–4.4 MPa while maintaining their density of 440–550 kg/m3 and reducing firing temperature.
