FIELD: natural and chemical threads and fibres.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to embodiments of a method of producing short carbon nanotubular fibres. According to one of the embodiments, the method includes: (i) introducing a carbon-containing gas, a catalyst and hydrogen into a reactor; (ii) allowing carbon atoms of the carbon-containing gas to react with the catalyst to produce carbon nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition; (iii) exposing carbon nanotubes to at least one factor of (a) one or more high-speed gas jets, (b) one or more rotating impellers, (c) gas flow through the textured surface, and/or (d) one or more collisions with the body of blunt solid objects before exiting the reactor, to form short carbon nanotubular fibres having lengths in range of 1 mm to about 50 mm; (iv) collection of short carbon nanotubular fibres; and (v) collecting some catalyst from the reactor and regenerating it.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain said nanotubular fibres.
