FIELD: laser equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser engineering, namely to cold cathodes for active elements of a pulsed metal vapor laser. Disclosed is a cold cathode for an active element of a metal vapor laser, made in the form of a metal-porous tungsten-barium ring installed in a molybdenum cylindrical holder, longitudinal groove with width of up to 1 mm and depth of up to 3 mm is made at the centre of the inner surface of the ring. On the inner surface there are additionally made transverse grooves with a pitch of up to 3 mm, the width and depth of each groove being the same as that of the longitudinal groove.
EFFECT: increased durability of a cold cathode of metal vapor laser while maintaining high stability of laser radiation parameters.
