FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: mechanical treatment of a cathode emitting surface is carried out, and impulse laser radiation is sent to the emitting surface. As a result of laser impact rolled pores open to form microholes evenly arranged along the emitting surface. The wave length λ (mcm) of impulse laser radiation and depth of microholes h (mcm) comply with the ratio: λ/h=0.009÷0.13 for the ultraviolet area of radiation, λ/h=0.019÷0.26 for a visible range radiation, λ/h=0.039÷0.84 for infrared radiation. Then a layer of metal is applied onto the emitting surface from a platinum group, and thermal treatment of the emitting surface is carried out.
EFFECT: invention provides for even distribution of microholes on an emitting surface of a cathode, identity of their geometric dimensions, increased emission capacity.
